The Underwood Library
The Underwood Library supports the school’s academic curriculum by fostering each student’s independent inquiry, critical thinking, research skills and love of reading.
The library welcomes students, faculty and all the EHS community. Parents serve as volunteers at the library throughout the school year. Donations in honor of students, family and friends are welcome. The Underwood library now accepts gifts year-round through the Online Book Fair.
The resources of the Underwood Library include a curriculum-based collection of 16,000 volumes and audio-visual materials, subscriptions to 60 periodicals and four daily newspapers. The online catalog of the library’s collections, Alexandria, opens on each student’s laptop along with access to databases and a wide range of in depth online resources.

Loan Policy
Students may borrow books for two weeks and renew them unless the materials are required by another student or teacher. Occasionally, library items are reserved for use in the library so that others working on similar assignments may share the books.
No fines are charged for overdue books, but prompt return is expected. Reminder notices are emailed several times each semester. When books are seriously overdue or lost, parents are advised by mail that the cost of missing items will be billed to their account with a surcharge of $5 per item.
Free copying, scanning and printing facilities are available in the library.
