Campus Closed Through This Weekend

04/29/2009

Dear EHS Students and Parents:

We learned this evening from Harris County that one of our students has tested positive for swine flu. That student has not been in school at all this week because of the flu-like symptoms, and the student’s mother indicates this evening that the student is feeling better.

In compliance with the directives of the Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services Department, Episcopal High School will be closed through the weekend, effective immediately. The campus will remain locked during that time. Please be assured that we are taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and the community.

We will continue to carefully monitor this developing situation and will share any new information with you as it becomes available. We will reopen the school as soon as we are advised by Harris County that it is appropriate to do so. Decisions concerning planned events, including any necessary rescheduling, will also be posted, so please check www.ehshouston.org frequently.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Head of School Ned Smith at nsmith@ehshouston.org or School Nurse Jane Kavanagh, R.N., at jkavanagh@ehshouston.org.

General information concerning swine flu is available from the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. Those links are:

We will reopen the school as soon as possible and will be in frequent communication with you until that occurs. We appreciate your support and patience and ask that you keep our student and all those affected by this outbreak in your prayers.

Best regards,

Ned Smith                                           Tommy Wright
