Building Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor, and will become a part of the School’s Operation department.This maintenance staff member will be responsible for general building maintenance, preventative maintenance programming, completion of work orders, and provide assistance to other maintenance workers and other school employees.

Specific duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems is highly preferred
  • Safely repair the school’s mechanical systems by using both power and hand tools
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Utilize carpentry skills to repair cabinetry, doors, hardware, sheetrock, and other surfaces
  • Complete preventative maintenance checklists and carry out all associated repairs.
  • Effectively communicate with other faculty and staff, both in written and verbal forms
  • Utilize the school’s maintenance work order program.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor or Director of Facilities
  • Assist the Maintenance supervisor with all job related tasks.
  • Uphold the values that are consistent with the mission of the school.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • Basic computer skill set.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, but complete all tasks within a defined time period.
  • Work in an environment that includes extreme hot and cold temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for eight hours in a day, frequent heavy lifting of 50 pounds, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching.
  • Work around moving objects.

Licenses and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (mandatory)
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License (mandatory)
  • Electrical, plumbing, and/or mechanical licenses (preferred)
