The Consent, Advocacy, and Refusal Education Initiative, also known as CARE, continued its mission to help give our students the skills they’ll need to protect themselves and others while engaging in healthy relationships. Earlier this year, advisory sessions provided students with important learning around bodily autonomy, consent, and personal safety. Through guided, age-appropriate discussions, students learned about personal boundaries, privacy, and recognizing inappropriate or unsafe behavior.

With the personal connections provided by our advisory program, advisors emphasized that everyone has the right to feel safe in their own skin. Through scenarios for discussion, students thought about and practiced ways to confidently communicate boundaries and respond respectfully when others set limits.

This spring, those earlier lessons were reinforced by a presentation from Mike Domitrz, founder of The Center for Respect, who also spoke with parents in an evening session. Known for his engaging and relatable style, Domitrz has spent years working with students, families, and educators across the country to promote respectful relationships and healthy communication. His message focused on giving students practical tools to navigate real-life situations, encouraging thoughtful decision-making around dating, social media, alcohol, and consent.

Students were also encouraged to be active bystanders—supporting peers, speaking up when something feels wrong, and seeking help from trusted adults. Together, these lessons reflect the school’s commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and informed community.
