Maggie Nichols is a former elite gymnast and one of the most decorated NCAA gymnasts of all time, often referred to as “the Michael Jordan of College Gymnastics.” In 2015, she became the first athlete to come forward and report abuse by a USA Gymnastics team doctor, helping to spark a national reckoning on sexual misconduct in sports. Initially known as “Athlete A” during the investigation, she later shared her story publicly, shedding light on the systemic failures within USA Gymnastics and advocating for survivors. Her courage and advocacy were featured in the Netflix documentary Athlete A, which exposed the culture of silence surrounding abuse in elite athletics. Today, Maggie continues her work as a consent and survivor advocate through The Maggie Nichols Foundation, empowering others to speak up, seek justice, and create lasting change.
EHS's Consent, Advocacy, and Refusal Education (C.A.R.E) program within the office of Diversity, Community, and Inclusion presents an evening with Maggie Nichols for EHS parents on Tuesday, February 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Hildebrand Athletic Center Alumni Room. Maggie will share her powerful story and allow parents the opportunity to be part of an important conversation about consent, advocacy, and resilience. Students will hear from Maggie Wednesday morning during our C.A.R.E student programming.
