The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) offers a unique opportunity for students to explore identity, build community, and develop leadership skills. This year, Episcopal High School was proud to send three members of the Class of 2026: Jocelyn Valencia, Simona Karnani, and Anya Pant.

Jocelyn described the inspiring environment of the conference: "You feel powerful surrounded by students with a similar drive who not only look like you but share similar values. I feel refreshed and encouraged!" For her, SDLC was an opportunity to recharge and find strength in the collective commitment of her peers.

Simona emphasized how the conference created a sense of belonging: "I loved SDLC because it opened my eyes and showed me that I am not alone in my daily experiences. I saw how represented we were and liked having a safe space to connect with others with similar goals like me."  She also cherished the connections she made, adding, "I met people from all over the country and made some friends that I will definitely cherish for a lifetime."

For Jocelyn, Simona, and Anya, SDLC was a transformative experience that left them feeling empowered and inspired to make a difference. We celebrate their participation and the leadership they bring back to our community, and we look forward to sending more students next year when the conference comes home to H-Town!
