The fall athletic season will come to an exciting conclusion this weekend as the Knights travel to Dallas for the SPC championship tournaments. EHS has qualified five fall teams for post-season play after another outstanding fall season in the Athletic Pillar.
The boys volleyball team earned the #1 seed in the south zone with their 8-2 zone record and earn a bye into the second round of the tournament. The Knights will play their quarterfinal game on Friday at noon at Greenhill.
The girls volleyball team finished south zone play with a 7-1 record, good for a three-team, first-place tie with St. John's and St. Stephens. The Knights earned the #3 seed based on criteria and will play Ft. Worth Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at ESD.
The field hockey team, fueled by a three-game winning streak to end the regular season, earned the 4th seed in the south zone. The Knights face Ft. Worth Country Day at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hockaday.
The girls and boys cross country teams will race for team titles Saturday morning at Norbuc Park in Dallas. The girls team easily captured the south zone championship last week in Austin while the boys team finished fourth. The SPC championship races begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
In other athletic news, the varsity, JV, and JV White football teams all finished their seasons with impressive wins last week. The JV White team hosted Cypress Christian and avenged an early season loss with a big 22-6 win. The JV team traveled to Houston Christian where the Knights used an incredible second-half performance to earn a big 35-6 road win. The varsity Knights ended the season in fine fashion with a dominating 31-7 win at home vs. Houston Christian.
