Reserve Space Now for Interim Term Trips

Interim Term Travel experiences provide hands-on learning and opportunities to expand students' knowledge of people and places. Sign up deadlines for the Washington, DC, Close Up trip and the Everglades Florida Adventure are fast approaching.

Trips fill up fast, sign up today with info below. Registration is on a first come first served basis with priority given to sophomores and juniors.


Washington DC Trip:

During the 2nd week of Interim Term, from Sunday January 13th to Friday the 18th, the Close-Up trip will travel to Washington DC to have a "Close-Up" experience of how our government really works.

Close-Up was founded in 1971 and is the nation's leading non-profit, nonpartisan civic education organization. Using DC as a living classroom, Close Up program bridges social studies content with real-life situations, using highly-trained Program Instructors.

The ESTIMATED cost of the all-inclusive trip is $2000.00 and there is some financial aid available through the Close Up Foundation for those who may need assistance.

Close-Up trip is available to all FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS.

A $400 deposit is required by SEPTEMBER 25th to begin the registration process.

Florida Everglades & Keys Trip:

Erin Russe, Science Teacher, will be leading an environmental science and marine biology-based trip to the Florida Keys and Everglades over Interim Term (January 14-18, 2019). Freshmen, sophomores, or juniors interested in this trip may contact Ms. Russe directly at erusse@ehshouston.org or 713-512-3413 for more information. Activities planned include snorkeling the coral reefs of Dry Tortugas National Marine Sanctuary, kayaking through the mangrove tunnels in Pennekamp State Park, feeding tarpon, visiting the sea turtles at the Sea Turtle Hospital, dip-netting in the sea grass of Marathon Key, and an airboat ride and Shark Valley tram tour in the Everglades. Register now to secure your spot on what is sure to be a fun and educational adventure!

This an excellent expeditionary learning opportunity for all students with a focus on world languages, history and the arts!
