In mid-November, EHS students were invited to participate in the English-Speaking Union's National Shakespeare Competition. Since 1983, the competition has engaged more than 360,000 students. Our School's first round in the 2019 competition featured nine EHS students, from which our faculty/staff judges selected the following top three students:
1st Place: Alena Haney '21
2nd Runner Up: Lydia Berckley '23
3rd Runner Up: Taliana Stoy '23
Haney will proceed by representing EHS at the citywide competition on March 7 at Main Street Theatre. The Houston-area winner will advance to the national competition at Lincoln Center in New York City. Previous EHS Knights who have proceeded to nationals are Chelsea Stavis '06, Stephanie Styles '10, and Daniel Hancock '16.
