Seven acts performed on stage in the USC during last Friday's Coffee House. The lunchtime event featured a rock band, soloists, and poetry readings. Students purchased Coffee House t-shirts (designed by Gwen Rippeto '21) and 300 iced coffees provided by Houston's A 2nd Cup, with $1,500 in proceeds benefiting efforts to fight human trafficking.
For the past few years, student council's Coffee House has partnered with the Heights-area coffee shop, A 2nd Cup. The non-profit shop is co-owned by math teacher Mark Raggett and his wife, Erica. The Raggetts and their shop have been featured by many local and national media outfits for success in helping victims of human trafficking rebuild their lives. Read a recent People.com feature here.
