The varsity boys basketball team, bolstered by the return of senior Jahari Long, used a second half scoring surge to defeat St. John's 71-61 on Friday night. Long, who has missed much of the season due to injury, led the Knights to their 4th SPC win and 17th of the season.
In other athletic action from St. John's, the varsity girls basketball team dominated from the start and cruised to a 45-30 win. The Knights are now 5-1 in SPC play and have won 19 games overall. The varsity boys soccer team earned an impressive 2-0 win over the Mavericks and extended their win streak over St. John's to ten games. The varsity girls soccer team tallied the first goal of Friday's match at St. John's, but gave up three unanswered goals in suffering their first SPC loss of the season.
The EHS wrestling team competed in the Texas Prep State Championships Saturday at St. Thomas and six Knights earned all-state. Jake Berlin, James Ogunrin, and Beau Edwards placed 2nd overall in their respective weight classes while Lane McCool (3rd), Quon Marion (4th) and Paul McGarry (4th) all placed in the top 5.
