College Counseling

Julie Rollins has enjoyed being the Director of College Counseling at Episcopal High School for three decades. Even though applying to college has changed drastically in that time period, her philosophy in working with our EHS families and advising students in the college process has remained the same. The right fit is always the best choice – whether it’s the Ivy League, a national liberal arts or women’s college, research university, junior college or special-interest program. You will often hear her reminding students, “it’s not where you go, it’s what you do that matters!” She and her husband are proud parents of Anna (EHS Class of 2018) and Ryan (EHS Class of 2014).

Mr. Ikechi (Chief) Achilefu ’03 is from right here in Houston. He earned his Bachelor of Communication degree from the University of Houston and joined College Counseling in 2021. As an alum, he looks forward to drawing on his own high school experiences to help support each student’s unique college choice journey. Prior to coming back to Episcopal, Mr. Achilefu worked as a sports journalist with the Houston Chronicle. He then transitioned from journalism to secondary education teaching math in Corpus Christi, TX, which sparked his passion for working with young people. Mr. Achilefu was excited to return home to EHS, where he first worked in Alumni Relations and focused on building and strengthening relationships within the EHS community. In his spare time, Mr. Achilefu loves spending time with his nieces and nephews, playing golf and supporting his Houston sports teams.

Mr. Jamy Champenoy, originally from Omaha, Nebraska, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida where he competed on the men’s collegiate soccer team. Mr. Champenoy also has a Master of Education, an advanced Specialist Degree in Education, and a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Florida. With decades of experience, Mr. Champenoy has served as director at several private schools (Mt. Carmel High School, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, and a private K-12 school in Northern California). More recently, he worked at Duchesne Academy, serving as the College Advising Associate Director. Mr. Champenoy and his wife have three sons Gavin, Devon, and Logan.  As an experienced educator, he takes an open-minded approach to working with students of all backgrounds on their unique journey in answering the questions “who am I and what do I want” because “fit” truly matters in college admissions.

Mike Hodgson joins the College Counseling Department after teaching Spanish for 20+ years in various Houston area schools and presenting at multiple national conferences, based on his expertise.  For the past seven years, he has been here at EHS teaching Spanish at several levels and also serving in multiple roles on campus, including Boys Basketball, Advisory Steering Committee, Discipline Council, and Tech Mentors.

With a passion for building great working relationships with all stakeholders in the college process and finding the best college fit for the student, Mike is excited to continue working with EHS students to prepare them for the next big step in their lives.  Most importantly, he has recently gone through the college application process as a parent with his older daughter Blake ( EHS ‘24) now at the University of Houston, and also will be going through the process again with his daughter Mia (EHS ‘26) and his son Drake (EHS ‘28).

Since 2000, Ms. Jamie Kim has worked in public and charter schools in various capacities (teacher, counselor, dean of students), the undergraduate admissions office at Vanderbilt University where she earned her B.S. in mathematics and secondary education as well as her M.Ed. in human development counseling, and in the college counseling offices at St. Agnes Academy and St. John's School.

Whether it’s working with students to find the right fit or answering concerns from parents, Jamie enjoys getting to know students to make their college planning experience purposeful, joyful, and memorable. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga, her Peloton bike, dining out, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two daughters, Noelle and Coralie.

Danielle Stadick joins Episcopal High School after seven fantastic years at Grand Oaks High School in Conroe ISD. As the founding College and Career Counselor at Grand Oaks High School, Mrs. Stadick developed and led a comprehensive college planning program that served nearly 1,800 juniors and seniors in a high-volume and fast-paced environment. 

Whether presenting to hundreds or crafting a personalized college application plan - she appreciates the opportunity to help families find a true match for their next adventure. She looks forward to working with our EHS students and families in a more intimate setting while collaborating with the EHS College Counseling Team.

Mrs. Stadick currently sits on the executive board for the Texas Association of College Admission Counseling (TACAC) and loves the opportunity to create lasting partnerships with our college admissions community. In her free time, she enjoys socializing, watching movies, reading and singing/performing (not necessarily in that order). She currently lives in The Woodlands with her husband, Brad and four fur babies - Pounce, Scamper, Dakota and Marley.

Ms. Hope Young Toussant was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and is a true Dallas Cowboys fan.  A proud graduate of Texas State University-San Marcos, Mrs. Toussant has spent her entire career helping individuals achieve their higher educational goals.  With close to twenty years working in enrollment management and college admissions at various institutions across Texas, she decided to expand her reach by becoming a Director of College Counseling within KIPP Texas Public Schools. She has been overwhelmed with joy for the opportunity to work closely with young people and their families as they make important decisions.  This profession is her life’s calling, and she cherishes the connections made with students, families and colleagues.  She is very excited to continue her calling with the Episcopal High School community.

When students enter the College Counseling Office, Ms. Jeanette Martinez is the first welcoming face they see. Jeanette is a native Houstonian, graduating from the University of Houston in 2012.  She keeps the office on track and running smoothly—coordinating schedules, planning visits to campus from college admission representatives, and ensuring that students and parents have the information they need as they navigate the college admission process. This will be her 5th year at EHS previously serving as our school receptionist.
