What do you enjoy the most about teaching at EHS?

I love the atmosphere of curiosity and inclusion here. At every opportunity, students and faculty are engaged with the process of learning and exploring the world around them, whether through academic pursuits, athletic opportunities, or artistic and spiritual growth. Because everyone is curious to find answers to important questions, each individual’s skill set and background are valued and respected.

How do you strive to promote diversity and inclusion in your class?

It’s extremely important to me for students to feel they have a voice in my class. No matter what their social or cultural background may be, I encourage my students to give voice to their experiences through class discussions and writing assignments. Each person brings a unique perspective to his or her analysis, and it’s essential to have a space that welcomes and encourages individuality.

What are a few of your interests and hobbies?

I love to run, especially in late fall and early spring. I’ve run two full marathons and hope to one day qualify for Boston, though I’ve got a long way to go! I’m also an avid knitter and crocheter, and I’m learning how to spin yarn.
