Getting the opportunity to teach at EHS was definitely an answer to prayer. I was looking for a vocation, not a job, that would fulfill my desire to make a bigger difference, not a bigger pay check. EHS needed a biology teacher, a coach, and a mentor. I have not regretted a single day of my time here.
Coming from a large family and being the oldest of six brothers and sisters, I have played the role of teacher since I was young. However, rarely a day goes by in the classroom when I am not reminded of what my mother used to say to me any time I was frustrated with my siblings: “Just remember that everyone goes through the same stages you have gone through, just with different timing.” I think my mother was trying to tell me that everyone has a different learning style and pace, and that insight has provided me the patience and understanding to reach most of my students.
