What was a challenging situation that you’ve faced, and how did you manage it?

The most difficult challenge that I have faced—a personal one—is going through three floods in three years. Each time I have dug out of the debris, parts, and pieces of my life that are now gone forever. This has pushed me both emotionally and financially to the edge. The way I have managed all of it is by waking up each morning and moving forward, because there is no other option.

What are some of the qualities of an exemplary student in your class?

An exemplary student in Ceramics is one that continually tries his or her best and is willing to push the material, realizing that mistakes are sometimes the best way to learn.

What personal qualities or characteristics do you most value?

I most value honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
