Here's to 2021 and Bright Days Ahead! We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus tomorrow. Interim Term and Senior Outreach take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 5 and 6. The second semester for all students begins on Thursday, January 7. Quarantines for Foreign Travel - Principal Kim Randolph sent an email to all students regarding quarantines for those who traveled out of the U.S. during the break. Should your family need to report travel, the info and questionnaire are posted under "Holiday Travel 2020-2021" on our Coronavirus Quicklinks. Daily Health Attestations - Continue to submit attestations by 7:45 a.m. each week. Use Quickscreen for students -- either scan the QR Code or the Quickscreen link here -- and answer the questions. Those with yellow or red results are asked to contact our School Nurse Connie Thomas, RN, via email or at 713-512-3403. Students will not be allowed to enter campus without a green attestation result. Covid Dashboard - Review data about active Covid cases and quarantines on the Covid Dashboard. The dashboard is password-protected in Parent Central and is updated each Tuesday afternoon. Refer to our Coronavirus Quicklink details on attestations and Covid-era protocols.
Help Us Light Up the Knight! Plan B means Plan Better! That's been the Knight Strong mentality all year, and the Auction is no different. We enthusiastically move forward with an online auction and a virtual event on February 19, 2021. Songwriting maestros SongDivision will beam in from Nashville to guide guests in creating an original rock anthem! Put your tables together and consider gathering your group in a "host home," or make plans for a "Knight In" for yourself. As an underwriter, you'll receive a party basket of goodies for this cybertastic evening! Please support EHS by underwriting "Light Up the Knight." Register online. (The deadline for acknowledgement in the Auction invitation has passed, but you will still be able to register, and your name will be listed in the Auction catalog and other Auction publications.)
Freshman Service Experience Begins January 12 Next Tuesday, January 12, we will launch the Freshman Service Experience (FSE) for the freshman class. The goals of the FSE are to help freshmen explore what "service to others" means, discover the many needs in our Houston community, learn about our Students of Service (SOS) organization and our service partners in Houston, and understand why EHS takes service seriously. We mean it when we say we want our students to grow and prepare for meaningful lives in service to others. For important parent information about the FSE, please click here.
College Counseling's Fired Up for Spring PSAT Information - Scores were available December 8. If your student does not yet have a College Board account, you can create one by clicking here. Paper copies of score reports were mailed to families last week. If you have any questions regarding the PSAT, please email Associate Director of College Counseling Hope Young. For more information on how to understand your scores or to link your College Board account to Khan Academy for test preparation, please check out the videos posted on Counseling Connections under the tab, PSAT Information. Sophomores and Juniors - Now that the PSAT results are available, you will most likely see an increase of mail both at home and in your inbox. Here's some advice: Junk Mail 101: Put all that college propaganda to good use—You'll be bombarded by emails and mail from colleges and universities, and the way you sort through all of the communications can set the tone for the rest of your college search. Don't dismiss an institution based on its ranking or its unfamiliarity to you. Many students find "their" college through an unsolicited communication. Before signing up to be on mailing lists, create a new email account or a folder within your email for all communication to and from schools. Juniors – It's time to get registered for the official February ACT. The deadline is this Friday, January 8. Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2022—It's that time to get ready for the Junior Conference. Please be sure you have completed the Junior Parent Brag Sheet to begin the process of scheduling the official junior conference. We are hopeful to begin conferences in mid-to-late January. Seniors— Need help reading your financial aid awards? Please check out "The Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) Explained" video. For detailed information, please visit our "Paying for College" tab in Counseling Connections. Information on many topics can always be found on our Counseling Connections page.
Student Account Balances Posted on Parent Central It's easy to check Student Account balances and charges via Parent Central/My Backpack. Please ensure that your student account balances are current. As we gear up for the spring sports season and Senior activities, delinquent accounts could hinder these activities. The account should be paid by the end of January to avoid late fees. Contact Kimberley Pavalock with any questions. Thank you!
