| An Invitation to our Ash Wednesday Service Parents are invited to join us for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy on Wednesday, March 2, at 9:25 a.m. in the Benitez Chapel. Ash Wednesday is the Fast Day that launches the 40-day season of Lent. The penitential tone of the Ash Wednesday liturgy is reflected in its readings and prayers, and in one part of the service, the congregation is invited to receive the imposition of ashes. Ashes are marked on our foreheads with the words "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." It's a sign of our humility and a reminder of our mortality. In the biblical tradition, wearing ashes was also a sign of mourning – on Ash Wednesday in particular, we are grieving for our sins. It's a moving service, for which you are welcome to join us! |
