| Interim Term 2023 Trips Now Open! EHS is excited to offer three travel opportunities for Interim Term this school year: Grand Canyon Adventure, New York City STEM, and Close Up Washington, D.C. | Join the Chaplains for Coffee and Conversation On the last Wednesday of each month, from 7:45 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., parents are invited to drop by the Bishop's Parlor for coffee. In August, the chaplains will be your caffeine companions, but beginning in September, our two new Mental Health Counselors will join them. Drop in! Meet this support team & ask questions – or just enjoy some coffee! We'll see you on August 31. |

| September 1 Back-to-School Knight Parents are invited to Back-to-School Knight Thursday, September 1, from 5:45 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Come meet your student's advisor and teachers. Wear comfortable shoes; you will follow your child's schedule, which will take you throughout the campus. Please arrive at 5:45 p.m. to allow for extra time to park as this is a large event. - 5:45 p.m. Schedule-pick-up in the Hildebrand Athletic Center Rotunda

| College Counseling News - Senior Parents: Please encourage your senior to schedule a conference with College Counseling. Seniors were sent an email with a Calendly link to easily facilitate scheduling.
- Seniors: 2022-2023 SAT TEST DATES There is still time to register with no late fee for the October 1 SAT by September 2. 2022-2023 ACT TEST DATES You can also register for the October 22 ACT with a registration deadline of September 16.
- Senior & Junior Families: College representative visits to EHS begin this week on September 1. Please encourage your senior or junior student to register in their Naviance Student account. You can view all upcoming visits on our College Counseling calendar.
- AP Students: AP exams will utilize a traditional schedule in 2023. Exams will take place May 1-12. You can see the complete testing schedule and important notes in the AP Testing tab in Counseling Connections.

Senior, Junior & Sophomore Parents: Invitation to Understanding the College Financial Aid Process September 28: This event will be held on the St. John's campus in the Fine Arts Annex, and run from 6:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. For initial questions on parking and directions to the event space, Campus Map & Directions webpage shows the Fine Arts Annex (F) right across the street from visitor parking (P). This opportunity is meant for grades 10-12, and will feature the following financial aid and admission professionals sharing their knowledge, updates, and important aspects of the financial aid process for attending families: Ms. Jennifer Mertz, Assistant Vice Provost of Financial Services and Director of Financial Aid at Lehigh University; Mr. Chad Spencer, Senior Associate Dean of Admission and Financial Aid/Director of Financial Aid at Davidson College; and Ms. Eleanor Wu, Deputy Director of Financial Aid at Claremont McKenna College. All those planning to attend this program will need to submit an RSVP through the following form.

| | | August 31 Parent Forum Topic: "The Science of High-Risk Behaviors and Adolescent Brain Development" EHS Choices Education Specialist Desiree Martinez and Thomson Ivins from the Council on Recovery will be our featured presenters. Parents will learn about the science behind the appeal of high-risk behaviors for adolescents – and the impact those activities can have on adolescent health and brain development. Parent Forums meet in Anderson Lecture Hall on the first floor of our Brown Learning Resource Center and are also recorded for later viewing. Join us for a light lunch and conversation beginning at 11:30 a.m. The presentation will begin at 11:45 a.m., with time for Q & A before we end at 12:45 p.m. September 7 Parenting in Faith Class On the first Wednesday of every month, parents are invited to come to the Bishop's Parlor in the Convent Building at 7:45 a.m. for coffee, donuts, connection, and the Parenting in Faith discussion from 8:00 a.m. -8:30 a.m. For the 2022-2023 school year, the chaplains will present ideas from The Hopeful Family: Raising Resilient Children in Uncertain Times as a starting point for discussion about parenting and the intersections of faith, family, meaning, and hope amidst life challenges. Parents may come and go during the meetings as needed and are welcome to join the group at any time of the year. Due to the discussion format of the program, Parenting in Faith meetings are not recorded. |

| The Service Achievement Program While all students are heartily encouraged to participate in service projects coordinated by our Students of Service (SOS) organization throughout the year as they are able, the Service Achievement Program is a year-long concentration within SOS, designed to give particularly interested students the opportunity to take a deeper dive into service. The year-long program includes elements of learning, teaching, leading, serving, and reflecting. Students who complete the program are recognized in Chapel at the end of the school year and wear a green honor cord when they graduate. If your child is interested, please encourage him or her to speak with Mr. Dan Murphy or the Rev. Beth Holden this week. The application deadline for the 2022-2023 Service Achievement Program is September 11. |

| Baptism and Confirmation In Our Community Did you know that the chaplains offer sacramental (baptism and/or confirmation) preparation to interested students? If your child wishes to be baptized, or if your student has already been baptized and would like to be confirmed into the Episcopal Church, please contact The Rev. Mr. Callaham for more information. Classes are forming now. Baptisms will take place in November and May. Confirmations will take place in the Spring. |
