Parents Association Presidents Letter

Dear EHS Parents,

Here we are again…a new school year…a clean slate…time for new experiences at Episcopal, where students are encouraged to learn across all Four Pillars (academics, arts, athletics, and religion) and parents are valued as volunteers and as their child’s supporter.

Before school starts, help your child meet fellow students. Meeting new Knights over the summer before my twins’ freshman year made the first days of high school less scary thanks to new, yet familiar faces. Knowing that all of the freshmen were new to EHS helped too. One way for classmates to meet early in the school year is through clubs. My daughters separately co-founded clubs; one started Table Tennis her freshman year, and the other Sushi her junior year. They could focus on their interests, find a supportive faculty advisor, ask students to sign up, and schedule events. The possibilities are limitless.

For parents, a great way to feel part of the EHS community is to “plug in” on your own terms. Maybe you enjoy volunteering for events or attending a sports games? Either way, take the step--it will change the way you view the school. We are partners. Prefer one-and-done projects? We’ve got them. Prefer to make/buy items and drop them off? We’ve got that, too. Prefer to spend time scheduled over a “season?” We’re ready for you. Raise your hand!

The Parents Association weaves parents into the fabric of the EHS community. We have fun working together for a shared purpose: supporting our students in serious and lighthearted ways as well as encouraging our amazing faculty and staff. Volunteer to serve snow-cone Spirit treats or assist during Chapels. Our Auction hits annual home runs with its dedicated team of volunteers raising funds to fulfill the budget needs. So many choices!

Tell us how you want to be involved--we are listening. The Online Parent Packet describes a number of the opportunities; even more will pop up during the year. These and more will be available for sign-up at the Volunteer Rally on Tuesday, August 20th--the perfect place to ask questions.

See you on August 20, if not before!

Go Knights!
