The Technology Help Desk Technician position reports to the Director of Educational Technology. This position supports our IT infrastructure and varied technology initiatives, while engaging students, faculty, and staff in conversations surrounding best practices in a robust high school environment. This position will maintain a consistent, thorough, and caring presence on campus, at the Tech Help Desk, and will also engage in the varied professional opportunities that are available at EHS. The individual will have the following specific responsibilities, but not limited to:

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up and installs computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and peripherals; relocates existing equipment as necessary.
  • Helps to support Professional Learning opportunities and potentially lead training sessions with faculty and staff.
  • Installs, upgrades or repairs software and hardware components as they occur. 
  • Troubleshoots, upgrades, and repairs desktops, notebooks, printers, peripherals, cabling and other related devices as needed. 
  • Maintains equipment, peripheral and software inventory and check-out lists.
  • Conducts various training and instruction for users on operating systems, and installed applications, file management and peripherals.
  • Maintains an appropriate inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Maintains loaner computers for faculty, staff and students.
  • Completes assigned Professional Development to remain current on relevant technologies and appropriate certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational Technology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum two (2) years of experience in a similar position or equivalent training and demonstrated knowledge/experience in hardware and software specific to the school; or an equivalent combination of education, trainings, certification, and demonstrated experience.
  • Aptitude for learning technology systems including hardware and software similar to platforms used at EHS. Knowledge of Meraki dashboard, AWS, Canvas, Senior Systems, Zendesk, WordPress, and Microsoft 365 preferred.
  • Classroom or tech integration experience preferred.
  • ACMT Certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with constituents from the entire school community.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and define problems and recommend or implement appropriate solutions.  Must have a sense of urgency and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to perform maintenance tasks on multiple software and hardware systems.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of the job.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Frequently lift up to 30 pounds of computer equipment.
  • Crawl under or around furniture to install computer equipment.
  • Climb ladders and reach to install computer wiring and perform other tasks.
  • Generally works in standard office conditions and climate.
  • Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
