Year-Long Partnerships
We believe in committing to serve over extended periods of time in order to form relationships with those we are serving. We are excited to maintain year-long partnerships with four amazing charities! There will be a service opportunity at each of our year-long partners at least once a month.

WHAT THEY DO: The Beacon is a non-profit organization serving Houston's homeless community through daily services and counseling, including civil legal aid and housing case management. The Beacon is a place where the homeless are not only provided a hot lunch, access to showers, and laundry service, but they are also are empowered and filled with hope.
WHAT WE DO: SOS will be working at the Beacon Day Center, assisting with registration, providing lunch, and laundry services.
WHEN WE DO IT: Saturdays from 10:45 am -2:00 pm once a month

WHAT THEY DO: The Gardens of Bellaire is a senior living community close to EHS that provides assisted living, nursing care, and rehabilitation.
WHAT WE DO: SOS students care for the elderly by listening, interacting, playing games, and developing relationships.
WHEN WE DO IT: Saturdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm once a month

WHAT THEY DO: The Nehemiah Center supports at-risk families and their children by offering a safe, welcoming community. Children ranging from toddlers to teenagers go to the Center during the day to eat meals, play outside, do their homework, and be with their friends. The Nehemiah Center’s after school programs provide academic assistance to place an importance on education in the children’s lives. The goals of these programs are to teach the kids academically and to emphasize the significance of an education and their futures. The elementary program provides time and tutors to help the children with their homework, and the middle school program guides them on how to successfully go through school. The Center also institutes a time for worship, and teaches the kids about God and his unfailing love for them. Along with the physical community, the Nehemiah Center also forms a community relationally; the friendships the kids’ form at Nehemiah creates strong bonds that cause them and their families to come together as one family.
WHAT WE DO: As volunteers, EHS goes to the Nehemiah Center to tutor the kids and play with them. We spend time with them making crafts, playing on the playground, and keeping them entertained before going home. We also tutor the kids by helping them with their homework and teaching them concepts they do not understand. This impacts the kids immensely by making them feel loved and important and shows them how essential their education is.
WHEN WE DO IT: Wednesdays from 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm twice a month.

WHAT THEY DO: The Women’s Home provides a safe haven for women in crisis and gives the women an opportunity to start a new foundation for life though housing programs and support services.
WHAT WE DO: The Episcopal community helps the Women’s Home through working in their Cottage Shop, sorting vintage clothes, shoes and jewelry. The organization is then able to use the money raised to provide opportunities for women at the home.
