College Counselor - ARCHIVE

Reporting to the Director of College Counseling, the Associate Director of College Counseling assumes responsibility for leading, guiding, and supporting EHS's students and families through the college admissions process.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with students individually and in small groups, building relationships with parents, writing letters of recommendation, providing feedback on applicant essays and resumes, advising students on secondary school course selection, taking part in professional development opportunities, delivering informational sessions to varying groups of constituencies, and participating in projects and activities in support of the college admissions process. At EHS, we commit to knowing each student, so the desire and capability to do so are particularly essential.

Candidates should also have familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of an independent college preparatory school; the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population; and knowledge of colleges, their academic programs, admission policies, and financial aid policies and procedures.

Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be outstanding oral and written communicators, and enjoy working with students and parents individually and in group settings. Strong technology skills and utility with social media platforms, including the ability to access and analyze web and data-based information and control and manage student data, are also highly desirable. The ideal candidate also needs to demonstrate a warm sense of humor, sensitivity, collaborative impulse, compassion, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter, a resume, and contact information of four professional references to Lauren Roach, HR Manager, at lroach@EHSHOUSTON.ORG. The completion of an application will be requested and required later in the process.
