Score:7-14
Event Recap:

3/5/12 v. St. John's - Loss 4-7

This match unravelled with a lot of different lead changes.  The Mavericks stuck first just 41 seconds into the contest.  We collected ourselves, won the draw, and Elizabeth Dameris  put the ball where it counts - in the back of the net.  Under three minutes later, one of our prettiest combinations so far this season was a transition up the field where Dameris ended up with the ball on the right outside of the field, she took a quick peak inside the critical scoring area to find Sarah Giammalva waiting to score the go-ahead goal.  Just under two-minutes away the Mavericks brought it back to even.  We responded with another aesthetically pleasing combination this time originating on the left side of the field.  Izzy Olgaard zipped a crisp pass into the middle to find our little sniper Giammalva for her second tally of the game.  We held the lead for three minutes before we were even again - this time at threes. Unfortunately the black and red snuck out ahead just before the midway intermission.

We opened up the scoring in the back end of the game when Olivia Dennis scored on a free position to keep us neck and neck.  From this point out we had a streak of tough luck where St. John's scored three unanswered goals, which lead to the final result.   Even though the final outcome did not fall in the sought after column for us, this game did prove to reveal some of our best ball movement in our attacking third of the field.  There were bouts of great patience and trust with teammates exchanging passes and cuts.   We recorded 12 shots on goal, not including the ones that went in.  Some hit the goal frame, others were saved, and some had a favorable bounce for our opponents.  In our defensive end, Nicki McNear turned away seven shots, keeping us within striking distance for the duration of the game.   The match provided some good feedback for everyone involved as we look to move forward to our next match-up on Wednesday evening at 5:30pm against Bellaire on Simmons field.
